“Very positive exhibition with good quality leads. We’ve already sold our exhibition stock, we’ll be back next SouthMACH.” Livio Conte, Leussink Engineering

SouthMACH 09, held at the Westpac Arena in Christchurch on the 27th and 28th of May came to life with 79 exhibitors participating, attracting a total of 2972 quality trade visitors over the 2 show days! We are pleased that the quality of the visitors to the show was so high and that many of our exhibitors were delighted with the number of contacts and sales generated through the show.

Tradeshows are always a big investment in terms of time, money and staff resources, and SouthMACH 09 was no exception. We expected from the outset a certain level of reluctance on part of both exhibitors and visitors due to the current economic situation; however the enthusiasm from all at the show was apparent from the moment the show opened to the time the doors closed on Thursday afternoon!

 Independent visitor surveys were conducted.

Visitor surveys were conducted by TouchScreen Marketing and all visitors to the show were asked to complete a short survey upon departure to provide feedback on their show experience. 359 visitors were surveyed and results showed 82.9% of surveyed visitors rated the show good or very good.

The results of the survey showed:

93% of visitors were intending to visit the show again in 2011.

84.4% of visitors discovered new products or services of commercial interest at the show and 77.4% said they were definitely or possibly intending to purchase from an exhibitor at the show within the next 12 months. Of those who said they were considering a purchase, 32.2% indicated their purchase was likely to be valued at over $20k.

67.9% of visitors were currently employed in engineering or manufacturing industries, whilst the other 32.1% were employed in a variety of industries including Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Finance, Materials Handling and Processing.

57.8% of those who visited the show are employed in management positions or were Company Owners, Directors or CEOs.

72.3% of visitors listed their main reason for visiting the show as meeting suppliers, to gain ideas and see new industry developments.

When asked which products survey respondents would like to see more of at the 2011 show, the most common response was Material Handling & Logistics equipment & services, followed closely by food processing equipment and packaging machinery.

With the positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors, the team at HAYLEYMEDIA are certainly looking forward to SouthMACH 2011…!
