New Zealand has a strong reputation for innovation … some say it’s our remote location, small population and diverse geography that gives us the leading edge … others say it’s the fact that we’re tight-knit, well educated, entrepreneurial bunch with pretty good government support … whatever it is, it is a fact … we punch above our weight on the world stage when it comes to innovation.
Caliber Design provides seconded mechanical engineering resources to New Zealand’s best - HamiltonJet, Fisher & Paykel, Fabrum, WYMA Solutions, Stabicraft, Enatel, Rocket Lab, UBCO, to name a few.
We believe this puts us in a great position to know what a World Class Engineer looks like … and we’re on a mission to continue to build our reputation as an incubator for World Class Engineers in New Zealand.
We’ve launched a comprehensive 5-year development program to make this happen and James will tell you all about it in this presentation. We’re motivated to do this because we are passionate about enabling NZ engineering to deliver the best solutions in the world … and providing NZ engineers with world class experience.

James Richardson is Caliber Design’s Auckland Regional Manager:
“I started my first business during the final year of study for a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, I made the leap to work on the business full-time. I went on to sell that business, and that experience sparked a passion for business that I suspect will last my entire career.
In my role at Caliber Design, I'm lucky to be exposed to the inner-workings of companies in every corner of New Zealand's engineering industry - from small family-owned jobbing shops through to local heavyweights like Rocket Lab, Lion Breweries, and Fletcher Steel.
I'm also surrounded by some of the smartest and most motivated engineers I've ever met, which in turn fuels my growth, and makes me a better manager.
